MROP ONLINe APPLICATION

Acceptance into a Men’s Rites of Passage is based on the readiness of the applicant for a life transition. While images and rituals are used from other religious traditions, particularly Native Aboriginal, this 5-day MROP ceremonial event is rooted in the Judeo-Christian Catholic heritage. However, this is not an ordinary Catholic/Christian men’s experience.

The Rites of Passage are a ritualistic ceremony most appropriate for those who are spiritually searching, who have already done some kind of men’s internal work, and who are not in a major negative reaction against God, grace, or transformation.  You must have basic physical mobility and health that will allow you to crawl, hike, and fast during the 5-day event, a significant part of it in the wilderness.

It is recommended to approach this experience as a lone seeker. For example, fathers and sons are normally not initiated together;  nor is this a buddy experience. You may come with friends, but you will be placed in a group where you will be initially anonymous in your group.

You may not make the Men’s Rites of Passage more than once.

Completing the MROP Application is the first step toward participating in the Men’s Rites of Passage. Please proceed thoughtfully and mindfully in answering the questions on the application form.  The Illuman SoCal Wisdom Elders will review your submission and you will be notified by mail whether or not your application has been accepted.  A $50 application fee must accompany your application.
